The Great British Pantomime Awards – Best show under 750

Showstopper! | Head Of Sound

As the face of the technical side, Andrew Pugsley makes a solid mark. He wrangles the live comments on the chat list, pushing ideas to the cast and guiding them on plot and musical points. On top of this, he busies himself editing the programme together on the fly. The sound mixing of any live show, especially one broadcast, is a trick. Thanks to Oscar Thompson for a seamless production here. – Karl O’Doherty (The Reviews Hub)

Showstopper! isn’t about finesse, it is about heart and hard slog; stories that might not be wholly perfected, but flow easily and are delightful to hear; songs that are funny and catchy, sometimes complex, sometimes simple; actors who (at least seem) to be having the time of their lives; a band worth its weight in gold and an improvising technical team whom you don’t notice, meaning they are excellent at their jobs. – Millie Bayswater (Broadway Baby)

Aladdin | Epsom Playhouse
Sound Designer

“The curtain came down on the annual panto held at the Epsom Playhouse on Sunday.
And organisers are hailing last year’s production as the “best ever” that was held in the town.

Aladdin, that starred Boom! Heavy D, of Storage Hunters and Celebrity Big Brother fame, was well received by critics and the thousands of people who attended the shows over the festive period.

There were 4,950 transactions selling 14,718 tickets welcoming more than 17,500 people over three-and a half weeks – not bad for a theatre that holds just over 400 people.”
